As a performance manager at a leading multinational in its industry, I witnessed firsthand how gamification and data-driven performance management can transform an organization. This transformative journey began with a bold vision inspired by a passion for innovation and the drive to foster operational excellence. Today, I bring those learnings to a broader audience through Boost Best Practice, a SaaS platform designed to revolutionize team performance and best practice sharing.
Over a decade ago, a visionary CEO introduced a revolutionary concept: the KPI League Table. Inspired by football leagues, this initiative aimed to evaluate team performance through a gamified, tournament-style approach. Teams earned rewards based on performance, fostering healthy competition and encouraging continuous improvement.
Together with the CEO, CFO, and external consultants, we developed an initial draft of the KPI League Table. This became the foundation for a system that would not only measure the performance of key KPIs but also identify areas of improvement and success.
As the program owner, I oversaw the refinement of KPIs and the seamless rollout of the League Table across the organization. The platform quickly became central to operations, empowering us to:
1. Identify Best Practices: Top-performing teams set benchmarks that others could learn from.
2. Promote Collaboration: Teams shared Best Practices, creating a network of continuous learning.
Year after year, the League Table celebrated success with ceremonies, trophies, and financial incentives. But the rewards extended beyond material benefits. This initiative created a knowledge-sharing platform that improved team performance across the board.
Regular calls with operations managers became a cornerstone of this program. We shared 2-3 actionable best practices during each session, which teams could adapt and implement. Managers, motivated by healthy competition, excelled. High achievers often earned recognition, promotions, and a collection of trophies symbolizing their success.
To further refine the program, we introduced team surveys that empowered team leaders to contribute to KPI evaluation. This inclusive approach ensured the program stayed relevant and aligned with organizational goals, fostering a sense of ownership and engagement across all teams.
The KPI League Table program encouraged teams to surpass expectations, with some achieving an impressive improvement in KPIs over time. By directly linking KPIs to profitability, the initiative became a key program that continues until today and covers new geographies.
Inspired by these experiences, I launched Boost Best Practice, a SaaS platform that takes the principles of KPI gamification to the next level. Designed for organizations of all industries, the platform offers:
